He produced live sporting events for television in the mid-Atlantic region for 20 years before moving to Portland in 2015.
Brian joined PDX Pop Now! as a festival volunteer in 2017 and has been on the listening committee since 2018.
When not working his paying job as a Video Network Engineer he can be found volunteering for Portland Retro Gaming Expo, Portland Radio Project, attending local shows, or hunting for new and delicious food around Portland.
Brendan Deiz, Grants Coordinator, was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. A musician since age 11 and music fan since birth, Brendan has both attended, and performed at, the festival over the years. After studying Politics and Teaching at Pomona College and the University of Southern California, Brendan spent almost a decade in education, before more recently transitioning to other endeavors, all the while playing concerts and recording music, up and down the West Coast. He has a Master’s in Teaching and has taught in jails, refugee shelters, public schools, and charter schools. Additionally, Brendan has put together a series of benefit shows, maintains a music blog, and draws comics independently.
Dave Szatmary, Finance Coordinator. I have been passionate about music all my life and wish to help in some small way to further the local Portland music scene. For the past two years, I served on the listening group for the PDX Pop Now! CD. Before moving to Portland, I managed a chain of record stores, wrote several books about rock music, jazz, and the blues (The Social History of Rock and Roll, for Prentice Hall, and Jazz: A Social History, for Oxford University Press), played guitar in several garage-type bands, and served on the board for KEXP. I organized a concert with Robert Cray and served as Vice Provost of the University of Washington.

Outside of those hours, she can be found biking about town, checking out shows, and over-ordering at taco carts.
Erika Breton, Volunteer Director, came to Portland in 2006 to attend the University of Portland. There she was a DJ at KDUP and studied Elementary Education and Spanish. After graduating in 2010, she began teaching in a Spanish-English bilingual classroom and has been there ever since.
